Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies results; our servers do not retain a copy of those search entries. If you contact us, we receive the information included in your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, visited pages, and time information. We review that data in aggregate for reliability and usage patterns. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, if applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, resolve technical issues, measure traffic, and improve pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Belton pages link to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their own terms and privacy practices govern information submitted on those services. The same applies to sponsored search results provided by an outside company.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
Protecting Technical Data
The service uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for the operational needs described above. Because there are no user accounts, the site does not maintain a visitor password or profile.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data a website keeps. Texas’s Data Privacy and Security Act took effect July 1, 2024, although the official state summary says political subdivisions and state agencies are outside its covered-entity scope. Because we retain little information, requests usually involve checking a contact mailbox and necessary logs. Use the Contact page. Texas, Bell County, and City of Belton records remain under the control of their respective custodians.
Updates to This Policy
We will post revisions to this policy here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
